Art Center Expansions
Dartmouth’s Hopkins Center for the Arts is undergoing an expansion by the architecture firm Snohetta. The firms released plans for an expansion at the New Hampshire location which will include a plaza, a new building, and renovations to the existing structure to include more performance spaces.
The complex will include a new lobby called the Forum. It will sit between the new facilities and the old structure to bridge the gap between the past and the future. Striated wooden walls and a long, curved staircase will be included in the new lobby area.
In addition, the institution will now have a 150-seat structure dubbed the Recital Hall. The significant addition aims to create a welcoming space for artistry.
